Portable Rental Toilet: Plan it Right
A portable rental toilet is by far the easiest solution when an area's immobile ones will not cover the expected headcount. Portable rental toilets are seen at wedding receptions, concerts, sports events, the list can go on. Having the correct quantity, quality and type of rest rooms is a key cornerstone of a successful function. A link has even been found between the carefully restroom planning and the amount of money and time that people spend at an event. What you hire will determine: public opinion, turnout and profitability.
There are a number of questions you need to ask though to make sure everything is perfect:
- How many people are expected? Some people gauge that one needs to rent a single portable toilet for for every 10 or 12 people. The table below provides a different opinion.

- What are the expected weather conditions? This could affect placement and type of models used.
- How long will the function be going on for?
- Is food and drink being served?
- What would be the most optimum placement pattern? Ground conditions and lighting will also need to be considered. What are the service requirements to keep conditions hygienic and sanitary?
- Do the units come with hand washing faculties?
- Have you any handicapped people expected?
- Do units have to be moved during the course of the event? - Because some have a trailer hitch to accommodate this.
- Is there enough toilet paper on site, along with deodorizes and hand soap?
Do consider that all sites are different. Most companies that provide a portable lavatory service do offer to assess the site first and are more than ready to recommend placement options. There is fortunately no set regulation that dictates how far the units must be away from catering facilities - it is only asked that there is some separation in the form of a say a marquee or screen or even just a clearly visible gap where no food is carried or stored.
