Remember that while you make take the utmost care when it is in your possession, luggage handlers see it as just another piece of luggage, and will throw it around just so. Scrapes and scratches in the material will appear easily (which some people believe adds to the character of the bag), but if you use a good polish and conditioner on the bag prior to using, then you may be able to prevent the damage from being too severe.
You can purchase a leather luggage set from a number of different places. There are a number of retailers that make mass produced luggage in various fashion styles, or your can buy it from a genuine Italian leather craftsman. Both are great options, and it depends on your tastes as to who you buy your products from. Italian leather luggage has a certain traditional look to it, whereas local manufacturers produce more modern looking products. Either way you will be presented with a product you will treasure for years.
