Hartmann Luggage Review and Repair Information

A more classic designer

Classic & Vintage Luggage

One of the oldest luggage manufacturers in the United States, Hartmann Luggage takes on a more classic styling when it comes to their collections. Founded more than a century ago in Milwaukee, Wisconson in 1877, the Hartmann luggage company has carried on with tradition, and still handcraft all their pieces in their Tennessee factory today.

Having the view of luggage being a fashion accessory, they have set the trends in luggage over the past century, from constructing First Lady Cleveland’s honeymoon case in 1886, through to the wild and colorful suitcases of the 1970s that reflected the era so well.

While the current range of Hartmann luggage would only appeal to people with certain classic tastes, one thing is for sure – this luggage is original and doesn’t look like any of the other major brands of luggage. When all you can often see in an airport is a sea of black luggage, these collections stand out from the crowd – and not because they are bright, but because they are different.

Materials such as tweed and leather are utilized to gain this uniqueness and individuality that stretches over 12 different collections. The Luxe range is inspired by vintage luggage and provides a charm of times past. It features patterns such as large polka dots or checkerboard, and is made from wool fabrics and trimmed with leather. Alternatively, the Career collection is catered toward business women who live life in the fast lane. The Wings collection is another set that has been inspired by a bygone era, featuring traditional-looking pieces crafted for the modern traveler.

Hartmann Luggage Repair

Hartmann offers an extensive warranty with all their products, but acknowledge that sometimes their products will need to be repaired. There are two options for consumers who need their luggage repaired. Firstly is to send the product directly back to Hartmann at their Lebanon, Tennessee plant, and they will assess it and contact you to discuss repair options. These repairs can take 1-2 weeks to complete following authorization from the owner.

Secondly, there are a number of US-based and international dealers who have their own repair facilities, and are authorized repairers of Hartmann luggage. The damaged item can be taken to one of these retailers for service. To find one of these repair centers, log onto the Hartmann website (www.hartmann.com) and use their locator program to find the closest agent to you.

Due to the manufacturing processes and craftsmanship involved in making this brand of luggage, it is no surprise that it is expensive to buy. But paying this price can be worth it if buyers are frequent travelers, who need a hard wearing, quality product that is different from everyone else who is traveling on the same plane.
