Car Bike Racks
Unmasked and Universal
The top racks attach to the base rack crossbar systems and come in different varieties. They can be ergonomically designed and hold even the high-end bikes. Many hold a wide range of tire sizes and rims that fit in the wheel tray. Carriers are offered that install without tools, are lockable, and mount to round or square crossbars. Some may have a short tray mount that will fit a wider range of crossbar spreads. These are usually very stable, attach quickly, are lockable, and also mount to round or square crossbars. Some simple up-right mount carriers quickly hold bikes with front suspension or disc brakes, and are constructed of steel with powder coat finish. Some tandem models offer easy loading by one person with a swing-out arm. Others offer wheel fork types that keep wheels in place and securely hold the front wheel with an anti-spin device. Some types hold bikes securely with large jaw-like non-marring clamps that are adjustable to protect the bike's finish.
Trunk mount bike racks also offer superior fit and stability for bikes. These can be found to offer value and performance, and carry bikes easily, and safely. They usually come fully assembled and easy to install.
Hitch racks will also safely carry bikes and fold up when not in use. Some fit 2" receiver, clear hatches and tailgates for easy access, and carry bicycles with swing-away technology which allows full access to back door even when fully loaded. The 1 ¼" sizes are built for smaller 1 ¼" hitches, and the 2" for larger models. The hitch rack is also durable, strong, and lightweight, and may also have optional security features.
Truck mount bike racks fit different size truck beds, and can be attached to most pickups, RVs, and boats. Some have different bike capacities, install in less than one minute, are padded to protect bikes, and work with bed liners. The carriers are affordable, and install easy, also some models will lock the bike rack to the truck, and the bike to the mount. There is also a truck bed rail rack that clamps on to a wide range of truck bed rails, and can be combined with other carrier accessories. These require special bars that are size specific for the truck, and usually hold up to 300 pounds.
