One of the biggest problems you are faced with when attempting to frame a large picture, whether it be a collage or oval, is not in the actual framing of the work, but in the hanging of it.

Large collage pieces, especially those framed with glass, can be exceptionally heavy. And if you are mounting the picture on a relatively weak internal wall, this can be a real issue.

One way to lighten the load is to opt for a plastic frame instead, but plastic is notorious for its vulnerability to scratches and its ability to attract dust and static.

If you are worried about the strength of the frame, you could consider using window glass instead of regular glass. Although it is heavier, it will support your picture better. However, because this material is not made with picture-framing in mind, it does have a tendency to contain small imperfections and bubbles.
