Step By Step Universal Dishwasher Repair Guide
Using the wrong type of soap:
This causes a huge excess of bubbles that may overflow from the machine onto your floor. The Remedy: scoop out and dump as much excess water as you can and then pour two cups of vinegar into the dishwasher. Vinegar stops the foaming action of soap.
Improper loading of the dishwasher can result in need for repairs:
This can cause the machine to not wash correctly, leaving food scraps on dishes. The Remedy: Carefully separate all dishes and turn them to face the center of the machine. Don’t load anything so large that it could block the free movement of the spray arm. Don’t place larger items in front of smaller items in your Maytag or Kenmore dishwashers.
Lack of basic maintenance:
Food scraps will eventually block both the filter and the small holes in the spray arms where the water is squirted from, causing poor washing performance. The Remedy: take a few minutes every week to remove and clean the filter and also clean out the small holes in the washing arms.
Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker:
This will mean the machine fails to function in any way. The Remedy: Easy – simply check and replace any blown fuses or reset the circuit breaker.
Blocked or turned off water supply:
Dishwasher repairs will be needed as such a situation will result in the dishwasher humming, but not actually washing. The Remedy: Check the water supply valve is turned on. If this fails, remove the supply hose and make sure it is not blocked by running water through it.
